  • 60GB HDD

barman was the Seller on May 24, 2003 AnandTech

DO NOT TRADE!! Disappeared off the face of the earth for too long. Comes up with lame excuses why he can't ship / refund money. Will go off without communication for 2 weeks or more. You have been warned...

  • Bought hard drive, enclosure, raid

barman was the Seller on April 5, 2003 AnandTech

After 5 months of on and off communication, Barman had finally sent me parts we had agreed on. It was a 30GB maxtor drive, external usb enclosure, and RAID card. As if 5 months wasn't long enough to make my mouth sour, upon receiving the package i was utterly disgusted. The hard drive was in the 5.25 enclosure and was not fastened to anything at all. It had 1 inch to fly around in 360 degrees. The drive itself is also in ugly condition and is making funny sounds. The RAID card was also just slapped in the box where it could fly around.

  • Internal Zip 100 Drive, IDE Cable, & Zip Disks

barman was the Seller on June 2, 2003 AnandTech

I don't like posting NEGATIVES but the truth must be known:(! I paid Houdini here on 4/28/03. There's horrible communication and then there's NO communication at all. Some inexperienced traders don't reply with shipping information/status unless you prod and prompt them. Houdini here just took my money as well as that of many others on several forums and just DISAPPEARED. After many PMs and e-mails he sent me an excuse about being "out of town for business" on 5/8/03 and promised to ship no later than that Fri. HELLO, that's already almost two weeks! The only business he was doing was withdrawing all of OUR money from his PayPal account and spending it ALL. Communications from him cease again until 5/22/03--where again he's got another pathetic excuse. This time he was in court for "Deposit Account Fraud." How ironic, I would've never thought. As he finally ships the items we paid for (since he can't just refund us because he's already spent it ALL), he conveniently loses my address. After over a month of BS, I did finally get my Zip drive, which is just going to sit around being useless since I already bought another waiting for this one. If enjoy headaches, don't mind NO communication, or just plain like risking your money, then BarMan is an okay trader. For everyone else, stay the HELL away from this TROLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!

  • I paid by PayPal eCheck for a 256MB stick of PC2100 ECC Reg.

barman was the Seller on October 30, 2001 AnandTech

I sent the eCheck to BarMan on 10/31/01. The eCheck cleared 11/5/01. The RAM did not get to me until 11/16. From what he told me he let it clear to his PayPal account, which is fine with me, but he then waited for it to clear with his bank, which he stated had problems with it. I should have not had to wait for the money to clear at his bank considering when it clears to his PayPal account, it is his money. The communication was also horrible, I had no idea what was happening half the time after 3 e-mails and 2 PMs over a span of 6 days [11/8 to 11/14]. This deal took way too long IMHO. I would hesitate to cross-ship with Vernon again. I don't like giving a neutral eval, but I feel I must.

  • I bought a 8GB hard drive from barman.

barman was the Seller on January 10, 2002 AnandTech

I paid via paypal and he said he would ship the same day. After 3-4 days I hadn't received the hard drive, I sent him a PM and he said he forgot to mail it. In the end he made things right by shipping the drive overnight, and I finally got the drive after about a week.

  • Two gamepads

barman was the Seller on July 4, 2002 AnandTech

Good communication, and he sent off the package early. Unfortunately, it was lost in the mail. He's worked hard with the post office to find out what happened, but it's not the first time they've messed up one of his shipments. He's gladly refunded me the full purchase price, so I have no qualms giving him a positive rating. I even offered to split the loss, but he declined. I really appreciate his honesty and willingness here, and he's definitely a top trader in my book.
